COMMAND SERGEANT MAJOR DANIEL S. VENTON
Command Sergeant Major, 1st Battalion, 1st Air Defense Artillery Regiment
Command Sergeant Major Daniel S. Venton was born in Rota Naval Air Station, Cadiz, Spain, and has lived in various places around the world. He enlisted in the Army from Hampton, Virginia, March 18, 1998, and attended One Station Unit Training (Field Artillery) at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. His first duty assignment was with 3rd Battalion, 29th Field Artillery Regiment, Fort Carson, Colorado, where he served as a cannon crew member. CSM Venton served one year with the Georgia National Guard’s 277th Maintenance Company in 2002 before being reclassified from 13B to 14R in April 2003 and later to 14J in June 2006.
Other past assignments include Brigade Operations Sergeant Major, 35th Air Defense Artillery Brigade, Osan Air Base, Republic of Korea; Battalion Operations Sergeant Major, 6th Battalion, 52nd Air Defense Artillery Regiment, Suwon Air Base, Republic of Korea; and First Sergeant, D Battery, 5th Battalion, 52nd ADA Regiment, Fort Bliss, Texas. He then served as First Sergeant, C Battery, 6th Battalion, 52nd ADA Regiment, Osan Air Base; First Sergeant, B Battery, 6th Battalion, 52nd ADA Regiment, Suwon Air Base; and then returned to Osan Air Base as Brigade Operations Noncommissioned Officer in Charge, 35th Air Defense Artillery Brigade. He later served as an Advanced Individual Training Platoon Sergeant, C Battery, 2nd Battalion, 6th ADA Regiment, Fort Bliss, Texas, and Fort Sill, Oklahoma.
His military education include the Command Sergeant Major Development, Battalion Pre-Command, Master Resiliency, First Sergeants, Combatives, Battle Staff, Sexual Harassment Assault Response Prevention, AIT Platoon Sergeant, Air Defense Airspace Coordinator, Senior Leaders, Advance Leaders, Basic Leaders, Combat Life Savers, and Drivers Training courses. He also attended the U.S. Army Sergeants Major Course, Class 68.
His awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal with two oak leaf clusters, Army Commendation Medal with six oak leaf clusters, Army Achievement Medal with five oak leaf clusters, Good Conduct Medal (6th award), Army Presidential Unit Citation, Army Superior Unit Award, and Army Meritorious Unit Award. He also holds a Drivers Badge (Track), is a recipient of the Honorable Order of Saint Barbara, and is a member of the prestigious Sergeant Audie Murphy Club.
