Lieutenant Colonel Larry R. Moore enlisted in the Army in 1985 as an Administrative Specialist and was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Battery 3-16th Field Artillery Battalion in Baumholder, Germany, where he worked in the S-3 section. He was next assigned to United States Army Garrison, Fort Carson, Colorado, and worked on special staff in the Protocol section.
From 1994 to 1996, he was assigned to 25th Infantry Division at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, in the G-1, Enlisted Strength Management Section. In 1996, LTC Moore was selected to attend Officer Candidate School and was commissioned a second lieutenant and branched Quartermaster. After completing the Quartermaster Officer Basic Course he was assigned to the 49th Petroleum Group, 109th Quartermaster Company at Fort Lee, Virginia, and served as the platoon leader for the terminal platoon, Inland Petroleum Distribution System (IPDS).
In 2000, LTC Moore attended the Combined Logistics Officer Advance Course (CLOAC) and Combined Arms and Services Staff School (CAS3). He was then assigned to the 293d Base Support Battalion in Mannheim, Germany, as the S-4 and later commanded the Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment. In 2003, LTC Moore was assigned to United States Army Recruiting Command (USAREC) and commanded the Houston Recruiting Company in Houston, Texas.
In 2005, LTC Moore participated in the Training With Industry (TWI) program and worked at ExxonMobil in Fairfax, Virginia. He then served as operations officer with the Defense Energy Support Center-Middle East in Bahrain. Afterwards, he was reassigned to Surface Distribution and Deployment Command (SDDC) in Jacksonville, Florida, with the 832nd Transportation and Terminal Battalion as the executive officer.
In 2009, LTC Moore deployed to Basrah, Iraq, and served as the Logistics Advisor on a Border Transition Team where he worked with Iraqi General Officers at the Department of Border Enforcement (DBE) and advised them in matters of logistics. LTC Moore next attended the Command General Staff College (CGSC-ILE) at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, and upon completion was assigned to Cadet Command and served as Department Head and Assistant Professor of Military Science at Armstrong Atlantic State and Savannah State Universities’ ROTC programs prior to becoming Director, Ammunition Depot, 10th Support Group (Regional).
LTC Moore earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Logistics Management at Virginia State University and Masters of Science in Human Relations with Oklahoma University. His military education includes the Quartermaster Officer Basic Course, Joint & Combined Warfighting College, CLOAC, CAS3, the Petroleum Officer Course and CGSC-ILE.
LTC Moore’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with three oak leaf clusters, Army Commendation with four oak leaf clusters, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Ribbon with two bronze star devices, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon and Overseas Service Ribbon with numeral 5 device. He has also earned the Air Assault and Recruiter’s Badges.
