Facility Control Office Mission Statement
• FCO-Okinawa is the highest level of Operations and Maintenance (O&M) control within Okinawa Japan and acts as an interface between subordinate GIG facilities
and higher-level DISA elements. FCO-Okinawa provides operational control and supervision over the Tech Controls, SCF’s, PTF’s, switching centers, satellite
earth terminals, operations and maintenance activities, and contract maintenance agencies. FCO-Okinawa also gathers information from subordinate facilities
and relays the information to higher-level DISA elements, as well as passing operational direction from the DISA elements to subordinate units. Serves as the
C2 element for all battalion operations.

Technical Control Mission Statement
• Controls and monitors all DISN services in the pacific theater that traverse Okinawa in the support of the joint Warfighter, unified combatant commanders and
national agencies. Operates and maintains the Joint Warfighter Inter-base Telecommunications (JWIT) Network that interconnects STEP/Teleport, the DISN Core
and all bases on Okinawa.

SATCOM
Provides the Joint Warfighter global satellite communications
connectivity to the DISN Core via a DoD Gateway. Provides project
management to install, operate, and maintain satellite
communications assets (DSCS, MILSTAR) assigned to the 58th Signal
Battalion.

DSN

Provides reliable end to end common user and dedicated telephone
service, voice-band data, and video teleconference (VTC) for C2 and
non C2 DoD authorized users in support of the Warfighter, unified
combatant commanders and national agencies. Provides spectrum
management for US Army units in Okinawa for Telephone service,
allocation, and use

Military Affiliated Radio Station (MARS)
Provides worldwide high frequency Military Affiliate Radio System
communications. Sends and receives MARSGRAMS as requested. Serves
as contingency communications.
