CSM Binford

Command Sergeant Major Binford was born in Kansas City, Kansas. He enlisted in the Army in March 1989 and attended Basic Training at Fort Dix, NJ and Advanced Individual Training at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD.
CSM Binford’s assignments include two tours in Germany, and the following stateside installations: Schofield Barracks, HI, Fort Carson, CO, Fort Riley, KS, Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD, Fort Campbell, KY, Fort Belvoir, VA, and Fort Bliss, TX. Additionally he deployed to Bosnia in support of Operation Joint Endeavor, and he has three combat tours in Iraq during Operation Desert Storm in 1990-1991, and during Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2006-2007 and 2008-2009.
During CSM Binford’s career he has held a variety of leadership and staff positions including: Division G4 Maintenance SGM, 25th Infantry Division; Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Commanding General, U.S. Army Security Assistance Command; First Sergeant, E Company, 3/25 Aviation Battalion; Division Protocol NCOIC, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault); Division Public Affairs Supervisor, 1st Infantry Division; Platoon Sergeant; Operations NCO; Instructor; Section Sergeant; Squad Leader; and Retention NCO.
His military education includes: Class 58 of the Sergeants Major Course, the First Sergeant Course, the Basic and Advanced Noncommissioned Officer Courses, the Warrior Leader Course, the Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic’s Course (63W AIT), the Wheel Vehicle Recovery Course (H8), the NBC NCO Course, the Unit Armorer Course, the DS Plus AGT1500 Turbine Engine Repair Course, the Maintenance Diagnostics Supervisor Course (MD310), the Instructor Training Course, the Systems Approach to Training Course, the Small Group Instruction Course, and the Combat Lifesaver Course.
CSM Binford’s awards and decorations include the: Bronze Star Medal (2nd Award), Meritorious Service Medal (5th Award), Army Commendation Medal (5th Award), Army Achievement Medal (4th Award), NCO Professional Development Ribbon (Numeral 4), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (6th Award), Iraqi Campaign Medal (3 Bronze Campaign Stars), National Defense Medal (1 Bronze Star), Southwest Asia Service Medal (3 Bronze Campaign Stars), Kuwait Liberation Medal (from the government of Saudi Arabia), Kuwait Liberation Medal (from the government of Kuwait), NATO Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal (2nd Award), Good Conduct Medal (7th Award), Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Meritorious Unit Citation (2nd Award), Army Superior Unit Award, Driver’s Badge, and the Mechanic’s Badge. He was also presented with the Ordnance Order of Samuel Sharpe.
His civilian education includes a Masters Degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science Degree.
