Chief Warrant Officer Stephen L. Campbell graduated from Basic Training at Fort Jackson, SC., in April, 1983, and from AIT at the United States Army School of Music, Norfolk, VA., in August, 1983, as a clarinet player. His first assignment was the clarinet section leader, clarinet soloist, and librarian of the 399th Army Band, Fort Leonard Wood, MO. Following that assignment, he was assigned as a clarinet instructor and doctrine developer/writer at the U.S. Army School of Music. Following a tour in Korea, he attended WOCS at Fort Rucker, AL., graduating on Halloween in 1995. Following WOBC, Mr. Campbell was assigned as the Commander of the 399th Army Band at Fort Leonard Wood, MO. His subsequent assignments have been as the Commander of the 8th United States Army Band at Seoul, Korea, Commander of the 98th Army Band at Fort Rucker, AL, and Commander of the 3rd Infantry Division Band at Fort Stewart, GA. While he was Commander of the 3rd Infantry Division Band, the band deployed for 15 months in support of Multi-National Division-Center during OIF V.

Chief Warrant Officer Campbell graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Woodwind Performance from the University of Memphis in 1974. Following undergraduate school, he studied clarinet performance at the Hoschule fur Musik und Darstellende Kunst (The Austrian Music Conservatory) in Vienna, Austria, while also performing on two tours with the Swiss Touring Operetta Company. Following his studies in Europe, he returned to the U.S. to teach music courses, clarinet, and also served as the orchestra conductor at Harding University, Searcy, AR.

His military education includes the Navy Instructor Course, BNCOC, WOCS, WOBC, WOAC, and the Warrant Officer Staff Course. His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, and the Army Achievement Medal.
