Office of the Chaplain (CHAPLAIN)
UMT MISSION STATEMENT
Provide religious support to the Army and other services, as directed, stationed or deployed to the western USPACOM AOR. Serve as the UMT component of USFJ, supporting U. S. Army current and future enhanced regional cooperation activities with the Japan GSDF. Provide or perform religious support to communities of excellence and installation operations that support host relations and Soldiers and their families.

Unit Ministry Teams physically, emotionally, spiritually, intellectually, and logistically ready in support of the full spectrum of the Chief of Chaplain's and USARJ's strategic plan; providing for the care of our Soldiers, civilians, and families in the free exercise of religion.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership and Guidance:
The USARJ Command Ministry Team advises the Commanding General and staff on the religious, spiritual, moral, and ethical well-being of the command. Develops and evaluates religious support personnel requirements, assigns and reassigns chaplains in the command, and advises and coordinates chaplain assistants' (Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) 56M) assignments in the command. Maintains liaison with USARPAC and the Office of the Chief of Chaplains, HQDA, on matters pertaining to chaplain personnel. Develops plans, policy, and programs for command religious activities in support of HQDA policies and CG guidance. Exercises technical supervision and direction over subordinate command chaplain activities through policy guidance, staff visits, and inspections.
Resource Management:
The command ministry team develops the Chaplain's portion of the USARJ Command Operating Budget (COB) and supervises and monitors chapel tithes and offering funds (CTOF) program execution through the review and analysis of community religious support activities. Coordinates actions concerning logistical support of chaplain activities in the command, to include ecclesiastical supplies and equipment; selection of chapel sites; chapel construction, modification, or renovation; and use of chapels and chapel equipment in the command.
Training and Readiness:
Conducts training workshops and activities for the professional development of chaplains, chaplain assistants, and chapel staff. Issues certification for denominational service leaders for USARJ communities. Develops and maintains chaplain readiness and contingency plans, mobilization plans, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and alert plans. Monitors tables of organization and equipment (TOE), modification TOE (MTOE), and table of distribution and allowances (TDA) documents affecting chaplains, chaplain assistants, and their equipment. Monitors and supervises the Command Master Religious Program (CMRP) within the command.
